Accommodation

In Germany, like in other industrialised countries, generally 25-35
percent of the monthly income must be set aside for accommodation.
When renting a room, a flat or a house, also enquire about the so-called
additional property expenses (heating, electricity, water supply and
sewage). When renting out accommodation the landlord frequently demands
payment of a deposit amounting to two or three months' rent or a bank
guarantee. If they successfully find accommodation, private estate
agents receive commission amounting to between two and four times
the monthly rent. As a precaution, however, you should not make any
advance payments. |
